Major works will cause a closure on the A1 motorway, leading into Edinburgh from Wednesday onwards.
Transport Scotland has announced the drainage works at East Lothian, between Old Craighall and Bankton, for next week.
The ongoing project to improve drainage along 3.8 kilometres of the southbound carriageway of the A1 trunk road is set to begin on Wednesday 23 March.

The final section of the works will see Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland improve 800 metres of filter drain between Dolphingstone and Bankton.
For the safety of workers and road users during these works, the slip road onto the southbound A1 at Dolphingstone Junction will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 on the nights of Wednesday 23 March, Thursday 24 March and Friday 25 March.
A signed diversion route will be in place for southbound traffic wishing to join the A1 at Dolphingstone, via the A199, B1361 and A198 to rejoin the A1 at Bankton Junction. This will add an estimated 7 minutes and 2.3 miles to affected journeys. Traffic traveling on the A1 southbound prior to the Dolphingstone onslip will remain unaffected.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These drainage improvements will improve safety for motorists using this section of the A1.
“It’s necessary for us to close the slip road to complete the job, however we’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption.”
