Maisie Williams first became a household name at 12, playing fan-favorite Arya Stark across all eight seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones. In the years since the series ended, she has moved through a run of varied roles, including a Marvel turn in The New Mutants, punk-era muse Jordan in the Sex Pistols biopic Pistol, and Christian Dior's sister Catherine in Apple TV+'s The New Look. Now 29 and approaching 30, Williams has increasingly used red carpet dressing as a tool to signal her shift from child star to adult leading lady, a transition that's on full display during her current press run for Practical Magic 2.
Williams is the subject of Who What Wear UK's new Autumn 2026 cover story, published September 8 and timed to the film's release, in which she speaks with writer Laura Antonia Jordan about fashion, turning 30, and stepping fully into this next phase of her career. The interview arrives as Williams wraps a press tour that has become one of her most fashion-forward outings yet, and it doubles as a clear marker of how far her style has evolved since her Game of Thrones years.

In Practical Magic 2, Williams plays Antonia, daughter to Sandra Bullock's Sally Owens, alongside Joey King as her on-screen sister. For the film's press cycle, Williams stepped away from a traditional Hollywood stylist and began working with her friend Dino Bonačić, a shift that has visibly loosened up her red carpet choices. The most talked-about result came at the film's European premiere on August 26 at London's Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, where Williams wore a custom oxblood dress by British designer Ellie Misner. The corseted, sleeveless gown, with its satin skirt knotted at the waist and trailing into a train, was a direct nod to a look Bullock wore to the 1999 premiere of Forces of Nature. Williams paired the dress with a rubellite Bulgari high jewelry necklace, updating the reference with a modern jewel in place of the original's layered pink choker. Bullock later shared side-by-side photos of the two looks on Instagram, thanking Bonačić for "bringing all of these looks back to life."
Williams told Who What Wear that the inspiration behind the press tour wardrobe draws less from literal witch imagery and more from the era her co-stars represent on screen, describing it as "taking inspiration from like the late '90s [and from] Sandra and Nicole at the time." That approach has run through the rest of the campaign, with looks pulling from Gucci, Maison Margiela and Cecilie Bahnsen, according to the Who What Wear feature.

The cover shoot itself, photographed by Melanie Rodriguez and styled by Rachel Bakewell, expands the range further. Looks include a Miu Miu dress styled with matching socks, earrings and heels; a Chloé dress and hat pairing; a Pauline Dujancourt dress, sock and headpiece look finished with Louis Vuitton Fine Jewellery earrings; a Prada top and skirt; an Emilia Wickstead dress worn with Louboutin heels; and a McQueen skirt, blouse, jacket and boot ensemble. The range, moving between structured tailoring and more romantic, textural pieces, reflects what Williams describes as an ongoing use of fashion to help her "graduate from child actor to adult actor."
Practical Magic 2 opens in UK cinemas on September 11 and in the US on September 18, meaning Williams's press tour — and her wardrobe choices — are likely to continue generating attention through the film's release window.
