Main takeaways of MCD election results: Significance for AAP, BJP, Congress

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election results have proved to be historic as Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won it for the very first time. It has wrested power from the BJP which had won the MCD elections for three terms in the last 15 years. The Congress’s decline continues as the party, which ruled MCD and Delhi, has been relegated to a distant third spot.

AAP was the winner by winning 134 of the 250 wards followed by the BJP which won 104 wards. The Congress lagged far behind and won only 9 wards.
