Police have sealed off a main road after a serious crash outside Asda.
Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious RTC on Orrell Lane in Bootle. Police descended on the area at around 12.50pm this afternoon (Saturday) to reports of a single vehicle crash close to the junction of Netherton Way.
The incident was initially believed to be a medical episode, police said. A man, who was the driver of the car, was taken to hospital and enquiries are continuing at the scene.

Photos show the road closure on Orrell Lane, with a cordon in place outside Asda. People are being asked to take an alternative route where possible.
Merseyside Police said in a statement: "We can confirm that emergency services are in Bootle following a serious RTC this afternoon, Saturday 17 December.
"At around 12.50pm, we were called to Orrell Lane close to the junction of Netherton Way to reports of a single vehicle collision, initially believed to have been a medical episode.
"The male driver was taken to hospital, and enquiries are continuing at the scene. Please take an alternative route where possible.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dashcam, CCTV or other information is asked to contact us @MerPolCC with reference 428."
