'Main man' - Manchester United fans' message to Erik ten Hag after Cristiano Ronaldo interview

A number of Manchester United supporters have thrown their support behind manager Erik ten Hag following the concluding part of Cristiano Ronaldo's explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

The second part of the interview was aired on Thursday evening and Ronaldo continued to criticise Ten Hag and United as a whole. He addressed a range of topics, including why he refused to step off the bench in last month's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur and what he made to being subsequently banned for his actions for the trip to Chelsea three days later.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who will have ambitions of helping Portugal win the World Cup in Qatar, refused to step off the bench in the closing stages of the win over Spurs, saying that "top players" don't come on for just three minutes. He admitted that he regretted his decision to leave Old Trafford ahead of the full-time whistle, but said that he was 'provoked' by Ten Hag.

"I will be honest with you, it's something that I regret, to leave the stadium," Ronaldo told TalkTV. "Probably, or maybe no, I don't know.

"It's difficult to tell you 100 per cent but let's say I regret [it], but in the same way I felt provoked by the coach. It is not allowed for a coach to put me in [for] three minutes in a game. Sorry, I'm not that kind of player. I know what I can give to the team."

Ronaldo's comments about Ten Hag and the incident against Tottenham undermined the Dutchman, who has transformed the culture at Old Trafford since his arrival. United's squad now boasts a collective spirit and Ronaldo has threatened to derail that with his comments during his interview.

Despite that, United's supporters have rallied around Ten Hag, offering him their full backing and support. They have been impressed by the way the former Ajax boss has conducted himself and implemented changes at Old Trafford, meaning they don't want that to be impacted.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some of the fans have had to say:
