The Super Bowl LVII celebration appears to be in full swing for Patrick Mahomes following the Chiefs’ 38-35 win over the Eagles on Sunday night.
The star quarterback claimed his second Super Bowl MVP, just days after becoming a two-time NFL MVP, to cap another impressive season that ended with Kansas City claiming its second championship in four years. In the aftermath of the Big Game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., Mahomes took to Twitter to post his first tweets as a two-time Super Bowl champion.
Mahomes’s first tweet, posted at 12:54 a.m. ET on Monday, included a video showing him holding the Lombardi Trophy underneath a tweet he shared on Feb. 6, 2013 – three days after the Ravens’ Super Bowl XLVII win over the 49ers. “I bet it feels amazing to be the quarterback who says, ‘I’m going to Disney World after winning the Super Bowl.’ #Qbs,” the tweet read, perhaps signaling an omen to Mahomes’s future success with the Chiefs.
Mahomes tweeted again two minutes later, posting the hashtag “#champs” and a picture of himself basking in the glow of Sunday’s victory on the team bus. The All-Pro signal-caller was wearing sunglasses while holding the Lombardi Trophy in his left hand with a WWE championship belt draped over his right shoulder.
Mahomes appears more than satisfied with his latest milestone and humbled while reflecting on how far he’s come over the past 10 years.
On Sunday, the 27-year-old was as efficient as ever, completing 21 of 27 passes for 182 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions. Mahomes led Kansas City, which trailed for most of the contest, to a comeback victory despite appearing to re-aggravate a right ankle injury he sustained in the divisional round of the playoffs.
