Mumbai: Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal on Friday approved the Shiv Sena's request for the appointment of MLA Ajay Choudhari as Legislature Party Group leader.
Ajay Choudhari has replaced the rebel Sena leader Eknath Shinde.
On Tuesday, Sena had replaced Shinde who used to head the Legislature Party with Ajay Choudhari as the Party's Group leader after Shinde's rebellion and sent a letter to Zirwal.
However, on Wednesday, the rebel faction submitted a letter to the Deputy Speaker reappointing Shinde. The letter said the resolution to oust him was invalid since the meeting had been attented by only 16 of the party's 55 legistators. The dissident faction was signed by 34 MLAs.
But, the Deputy Speaker rejected the dissidents' letter and approved the appointment of Choudhari as Shiv Sena Legislature Party Group leader.
