Mumbai: The Maharashtra Right to Information Rules, 2026, which proposed several changes, including a higher RTI application fee and mandatory identity proof, have been stayed following Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' directive on Thursday, sources said.
Activist Anna Hazare had opposed the new rules, which also had a restriction that each application should deal with only one subject, and threatened to launch an indefinite hunger strike from July 5 if the amendments to the RTI rules were not withdrawn.
