MUMBAI: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Faraz Malik, son of minister Nawab Malik , for questioning in a money laundering case. Meanwhile after three days of hospitalisation, Nawab Malik was discharged from J J hospital on Monday and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials took him to its zonal office at Ballard Estate to continue questioning.
Officials said Malik had no serious health issues. The ED arrested Malik last Wednesday in a money laundering case connected to Dawood Ibrahim. The special PMLA court remanded Malik into ED’s custody till March 3. On Friday, when the ED took Malik to J J hospital for a routine medical examination, he suddenly complained of unease and was admitted at the doctors’ insistence. The doctors had kept Malik under observation and conducted tests while a team of ED officials along with CRPF prevented outsiders from meeting him. After the health examination reports, the doctors decided to discharge Malik on Monday.
ED sources said Malik had executed the deal with Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar to purchase the Kurla property illegally. His son Faraz has been accused of being involved in signing the deal-related documents and clearing payments to Parkar.— VijayV Singh
