Maharashtra: Matheran gets 598 millimetres rain in 48 hours

NAVI MUMBAI: Matheran hill station has reported the highest ever rainfall of 354.6 mm between Thursday and Friday morning. The hill station reported 598 mm rainfall in two days. Despite heavy rains, no untoward incidents were reported. Rescue equipment worth Rs 5 lakh have been given to a group, which is helping the Hill Station Council, police and agencies during an emergency.

NAVI MUMBAIThe hill station has received 243.2mm rainfall on July 13 and 354.6 mm rainfall on July 14. The rainfall in and around the hill station helps in the rise of water levels in Morbe dam, Dehrang dam and other dams. "Not a single incident of tree falling, damage to house, landslide, etc reported in areas of hill station, where human habitation exists during the 48 hours," said Surekha Bhanage, chief officer, Matheran hill station municipal council.
