Maharashtra: Don't fall for bait, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray tells former corporators

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Friday held a meeting of former Shiv Sena corporators and warned them not to fall prey to temptation and assurances but instead hit the ground running in their respective wards. Uddhav told the former corporators that since the BMC's ward boundaries have been changed once again by the Shinde-Fadnavis government, they must be ready for a fresh lottery for reservation of seats.

Uddhav said some "agents" have been appointed to contact former Sena corporators and asked all former corporators to beware of the "agents." Thirteen out of the Shiv Sena's 97 corporators did not turn up for Uddhav Thackeray's meeting. But Sena leaders said many of them were outside city and all had been accounted for.

"There will be a lot of temptations thrown at you and assurances given, but don't take the bait. Don't listen to anyone and work in the wards. There is a possibility that the reservations will change. Agents have been appointed to reach out to you, beware of these agents. Don't think that you are former corporators, instead think that you are future corporators and work that way," Uddhav said at the meeting. "Many corporators are out of town and some have family issues. They have all given prior intimation," said ex-mayor Kishori Pednekar.
