Maharashtra breaches 200-mark after 40 days; 60% Covid cases from Mumbai

MUMBAI: The state on Thursday breached the 200-mark after 40 days to report 233 new cases of Covid-19. Mumbai contributed to nearly 60% of the fresh cases with 130 new detections. There were no deaths or any notable rise in hospitalisations.

Mumbai's daily positivity rate inched towards 2% (1.6%). A senior civic official, however, said that there was nothing to worry about as hospitalisations are few. Of the 130 new cases, only two required to be hospitalized on Thursday.

The city currently has 15 patients admitted to hospitals for Covid-19. The bed occupancy rate is 0.06%.

Active cases in the state and the city are rising consistently. While active cases in the state have reached 1,109, it has touched 682 in Mumbai.

Maharashtra's cumulative Covid-19 tally has reached 78,78,596 of which 10.59lakh cases are from Mumbai.
