AURANGABAD: Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to declare critical wildlife habitats with the Naigaon Peacock Sanctuary in Beed district and the Yedshi-Ramling Wildlife Sanctuary in Osmanabad district finding place in the list of 10 such identified habitats.
The state wildlife board, on Monday, officially declared 10 critical wildlife habitats, besides notifying three new wildlife sanctuaries in Maharashtra and 12 new conservation reserves across the state.
