New Delhi: The fervour, devotion and enthusiasm of Shiv Ratri are gripping the national capital all around. All Shiva temples are being decked up to welcome thousands and thousands of devotees who would throng the Shivalayas of offer prayers to Lord Shiva on Shivratri.
There are several temples devoted to Lord Shiva in the capital and its vicinity. However some of the temples are quite old. Let's see:
1. Shri Shiv Durga Mandir
This temple is Located in Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi. Shri Shiv Durga Mandir was established in 1983. Maha Shivratri is celebrated here on a grand scale where a large number of devotees participate.
2. Shri Gauri Shankar Mandir
Gauri Shankar Mandir is considered the most famous Shiva temple. It is one of the most ancient and renowned temples in Delhi. It is in located in Chandni Chowk.
3. Prachin Neeli Chhatri Mandir
This temple is situated in Yamuna Bazar. According to scriptures, the eldest brother of Pandavas founded this temple and the nearby Nigam Bodh Ghat.
4. Shiv Mandir Gufa Wala
This Shiv Mandir is built in an ancient cave in Preet Vihar. It is located next to a park. It is almost 22 years old and the most famous one in New Delhi.
5. Dudheshwar Nath Mandir
It is located in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. According to locals, the Shivling here about 5,000 years old. The purity is reflected in the ambience of this temple especially during Maha Shivratri.
