Five-time chess world champion Magnus Carlsen was first fined and then disqualified from the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship in New York for refusing to adhere to FIDE's dress code after arriving in jeans.
The defending champion was fined $200 for wearing jeans, which are "explicitly prohibited" by tournament rules.
