A Magnolia, Texas, woman has pleaded guilty to billing Medicaid for mental health therapy that never happened and to using a nurse practitioner's identity without permission. Tekiyah McLeod, 34, admitted to health care fraud and aggravated identity theft, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas announced on Oct. 2, 2026.
McLeod billed Medicaid about $477,872 and received about $453,323, prosecutors said. The case shows how a clinician's public identification number can be used to bill for care that patients never received.
