The Orlando Magic opened preseason play with a 116-112 win against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night at State Farm Arena.
Nikola Vucevic recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Magic, who had six players score in double figures.
First-year Magic guard Dwayne Bacon made his first five shots and finished with 14 points. He was the early catalyst as his 11 first-quarter points helped Orlando build a 13-point lead.
Aaron Gordon finished with 12 points and six assists in just 16 minutes, while Evan Fournier had 13 points, and Markelle Fultz and Michael Carter-Williams each had 10 points for Orlando, which used all 15 players available for the game.
Rookies Cole Anthony and Chuma Okeke made their NBA debuts.
Okeke checked into the game at the 2:06 mark of the third quarter and played the rest of the way. He buried a 3-pointer from the corner for his first NBA basket. He added another 3 and finished with nine points in nearly 14 minutes.
Anthony missed his first three shots before making a pull-up 19-foot jumper at the 6:50 mark of the second quarter. He finished with seven points.
The Magic and Hawks will meet again Sunday at 5 p.m.
