MAFS’ Stephanie Reveals Unseen Moment With Tyson During Last Night’s Chaotic Commitment Ceremony

MAFS' Stephanie and Tyson

Tyson Gordon’s dramatic exit from Married At First Sight (MAFS) was even more bonkers than the version that made it to air, according to his (sorta) now ex-wife Stephanie Marshall.

For anyone who missed it (and really, if you’re reading this, we assume you didn’t), the controversial groom — who freely shared his bad opinions on gay marriage, Donald Trump and “submissive” partners — quit the show in a huff when ever-so-slightly challenged by his wife.

“I’m seriously just gonna bounce ‘cause I just don’t want to be here, guys. I’m finished,” he said. “You’re all a beautiful bunch of people, I think Steph’s a beautiful girl as well, it’s just, I’m finished.”

Stephanie has now revealed to PEDESTRIAN.TV that the actual moment was even more dramatic than viewers were led to believe. Not only was Tyson’s exit shown out of order, but it took place after they both revealed their decision to “stay” or “leave”.

And, despite being one of the worst matches in the history of the reality show, they had both written “stay”.

“Before he got up and left, the experts were like, ‘What have you written down?’ and we had both written ‘stay’,” she recalled. “But he was like, ‘No, I’m leaving anyway’.”

MAFS’ Stephanie reveals why she wrote ‘stay’

Stephanie explained that although she would have never said yes to a second date with Tyson in the real world, she felt inclined to stay in the experiment, given how much she had already sacrificed.

“There was such an upfront, large buy-in to be there — as far as moving to a different state, being away from my safe place, not being able to fully throw myself into work — and there was such a commitment from my end that I didn’t feel like two weeks was enough to really get to know someone, and that’s what I was there for,” she said.

“Call me naive, but I was still so hopeful that there was more to him than just that. But, unfortunately, there wasn’t, and the way he behaved in just literally up and leaving and essentially being an outright quitter, which I didn’t take him for, was disappointing.”

What actually happened after Tyson left

While Tyson’s abrupt exit was shown at the end of the episode — with Stephanie being comforted by expert Mel Schilling and receiving a group hug from her co-stars — she confessed that this wasn’t actually the final shot of the day.

Instead, there was another couple who had a couch session with the experts after Stephanie and Tyson and “the order changed around in the edit”.

“After we had the big hug, I sat back down on the couch, and I stayed for one more couple’s time on the couch. I was just obviously sitting there by myself, feeling completely humiliated,” she shared.

“So when they pulled the next couple off on the couch, I left the room at the same time. That’s when one of the producers followed me and they brought my ring back to me, and I was just like, ‘Get me the f**k out of the apartment right now, I never want to see him again’.”

Unfortunately for Stephanie, she revealed that she came face-to-face with Tyson again at the show’s reunion, months after their on-screen marriage ended in flames. We’ll have to wait and see what happened when the episode eventually airs, but if it was anything like their relationship on the show, expect fireworks, a lot of unresolved tension, and a very swift exit.
