Whether you like it or not, Married At First Sight (MAFS) fans have come to accept that the reality show will always feature some sort of cheating scandal or couple swap each season.
All hell broke loose back in 2018 when Dean Wells and Davina Rankin became trailblazers of debauchery and had the first-ever cheating scandal, and since then, there have been countless participants who have ventured outside of their “marriage” or recoupled after filming wrapped.
When it comes to this year’s season, there have already been plenty of hints suggesting that Gia Fleur and Danny Hewitt will have an extramarital affair. Not only did Gia place Danny second in the infamous photo ranking challenge, but she claimed during last week’s Dinner Party that he said she was more his type than his partner Bec Zacharia.
Danny has maintained he never said this to Gia, but will anything happen between the pair as the season continues?

Will there be a MAFS cheating scandal this year?
PEDESTRIAN.TV went straight to the source and asked Gia if she was involved in a cheating scandal, and she vehemently denied the rumours. In fact, she declared that none of this year’s participants went behind their partners’ backs.
“No, there’s no cheating scandal at all — especially not with me this year,” she said. “I was just 100 per cent focused on Scott [McCristal] and I and our connection, and no one could come between that.”
Bec also confirmed to P.TV that Danny didn’t cheat on her with Gia, but cryptically said that “a woman’s intuition is never wrong”.
“Danny didn’t cheat on me, I’m just going to put that out there,” she shared. “But I would say that, you know, where there’s smoke, there’s fire, baby. That’s all I’ve got to say about that.”

John Aiken reveals his thoughts on MAFS cheating scandals
MAFS has featured plenty of different cheating scandals over the years, including 2023’s Claire Nomarhas and Adam Seed sharing a kiss on a night out and 2024’s Ellie Dix and Jono McCullough arriving at the reunion together.
Relationship expert John Aiken — who has been a part of the series since it first launched in 2015 — told P.TV that no matter how many cheating scandals have occurred in previous seasons, he’s always surprised by what unfolds in the experiment.
“I watch the show like everybody else, and I’m often shocked and confronted with what’s going on,” he said. “Cheating is something that happens out in the real world, so it’s often going to happen on our show. I just sit back, and I wait to see what unfolds.”
He continued: “What I know is that whatever’s going on out in the real world will turn up on Married At First Sight — whether it’s gaslighting, whether it’s OnlyFans, whether it’s Boss Babes speaking their truth, whether it’s TikTok and blue and pink jobs in a relationship or tradwives. So I just sort of keep an open mind to it, whatever it is, and then just deal with what’s in front of me.”
Well, it looks like this year’s participants only have eyes for their partners, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens when the intruders enter the experiment…
