Madonna's daughter Lourdes at her ICU bedside as she's placed on 'ventilator'

Madonna was supported by her daughter after she developed a "serious bacterial infection", which led to the singer postponing her world tour.

The American singer, 64, is said to have developed a nasty bacterial infection just days ago, with her requiring an urgent stay in an intensive care unit.

Not only was Madonna admitted to ICU, but she was placed on a ventilator and was "intubated", according to various reports.

The news of Madonna's health scare and tour cancellation was shared by her manager Guy O'Seary on Instagram, leaving fans devastated and incredibly worried for the star.

Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon remained by the Material Girl singer's side throughout the ordeal while her mother was "intubated" for at least one night before having the tube removed.

Lourdes Maria "Lola" Ciccone Leon is an American fashion model, dancer and singer. The 26-year-old star is the daughter of Madonna and Carlos Leon.

As of August 2022, Lourdes has been following in her mother's footsteps with her releasing her own music under the moniker Lolahol.

Although reports say that the global icon is now alert and recovering, with Page Six being told that she is "out of ICU", her manager explained in his post that she "is still under medical care" with "a full recovery expected".

Intubation is a process where a tube is inserted through a person's mouth or nose, with it then going down to their trachea (which is also known as the airway or windpipe).

The tube then keeps the airway open so that oxygen can be administered.

Madonna announced her world tour earlier this year, with the Celebration tour now being postponed until further notice.

In the statement released by her manager, it stated: "At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.

"We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."

The Celebration tour was due to commence next month, with a whopping 84 dates scheduled around the globe until January 2024.

Madonna was meant to be taking to the stage on July 15 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, but now there will be a new start date issued when the singer has recovered - although it is not currently known when this will be.
