Madonna has reportedly cast US actress Julia Garner to play her in her upcoming biopic.
The Ozark star apparently beat the likes of Florence Pugh, Euphoria’s Alexa Demie and Odessa Young to be offered the coveted role.
According to Variety, 28-year-old Julia's team are considering the role and expected to accept the offer.
The highly-anticipated film is set up at Universal Pictures, and will follow the early days of the Queen of Pop.
Madonna’s plan to direct her own biopic from a script co-written by Young Adult’s Diablo Cody was announced back in 2020.
In a statement at the time, Madonna said: “I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world.
"There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the rollercoaster ride of my life with my voice and vision," the Vogue hitmaker added.
Julia is best-known for her role as Ruth Langmore in hit Netflix series, which recently dropped it's fourth and final season.
The New York born star won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2019 for her role as Ruth.
More recently, Julia portrayed Anna Delvey in Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna which is based on the true story of the high society con artist.
She has also starred in other television series such as Dirty John, Maniac and Waco.
Fans were thrilled with the alleged choice and took to Twitter to comment, with one person writing: "This casting is simply *perfection*."
Another tweeted: "I’m becoming convinced that #JuliaGarner can do anything," while a third said: "Julia Garner is the right choice for Madonna. I'm glad Madge came to her senses. That'll be a big hit for Universal."
A fourth person added: "If you guys really thought anyone other than Julia Garner was gonna be playing Madonna… come on… she can actually act, she has dance experience, AND she has experience with fake accents. She was the only option."
The Mirror has contacted a representative of Julia's asking for comment.
