Madonna has broken her silence on her recent health scare with a severe bacterial infection.
The Material Girl singer, 64, was rushed to hospital last month and ended up in intensive care due to the scary condition. The hospitalisation meant she had to postpone her eagerly awaited world tour which was due to celebrate her 40 years in the industry.
However, the Queen of Pop has now told her millions of followers on social media she is "on the road to recovery". Madge, 64, also thanked them for their support.
"Thank you for your positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement," Madonna wrote on Instagram. "I have felt your love. I'm on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.
She admitted the first thought she had when she realised she was in hospital was of her children, but then that was quickly followed with the anxious realisation she might upset her fans.
"My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone he bought tickets for my tour," she said. "I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone."
She continued: "My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I can assure you, I'll be back with you as soon as I can."
Madonna then revealed her plans for her postponed Celebration tour. She added: "The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe."
Signing off her message, she said: "I couldn't be more grateful or your care and support. Love, M."
The star's condition was first revealed in a statement by her manager at the end of last month. Guy Oseary wrote in a statement: "On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several-day stay in the ICU.
"Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected. At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour."
He concluded the statement by saying: "We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."
She was initially said to be bed bound after returning home to her New York apartment following days of hospitalisation. But this week she had been spotted out and about once again, with onlookers saying she was "looking great".
In a video shared on social media, the songstress was spotted wearing a pair of oversized sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.
She went for a casual look as she sported navy shorts with a matching top. The singer also wore a pair of Nike trainers and leant against the lamppost as she waited to cross the street.
Over the top of the video, the TikTok user who shared the post said: "Guess who we saw out and about today looking great," adding Madonna's hit song Lucky Star over the top.
Fans were overjoyed to see the star out in public, and one user wrote: "This brought so much light to us her fans - thank you for sharing!"
