Taking to social media, after previously deleting all of her old posts, Madonna shared a picture of the tour poster and wrote: "Come join the party! #madonnacelebrationtour."

She then posted a video as she played truth or dare with a table full of her famous friends, such as Lil Wayne, Diplo and Judd Apatow.

Comedian Amy Schumer turned to the Queen of Pop and said: "Madonna, I dare you to do a world tour and play your greatest motherf***ing hits."

Madonna asked: "Four decades, as in 40 years?" before the group started singing some of her well-known hits.

Fans went absolutely wild for the announcement, with one person commenting: "REAL QUEEN IS BACK."

"Madonna going back on tour is the best news of the year," penned another. A third fan wrote: "Okay its time to go crazy!!!"

"TAKE MY MONEYYYYYYYYYYYY," begged another fan.
