BHOPAL: Jagat Kishore, a government employee, wanted to spend the weekend in Pachmarhi with his family to celebrate the Independence Day this year after back-to-back leaves. However, he will not be able to do so as others like him had booked the hotel room almost a month ago. Such was the situation that hotels have increased the room rates almost 3-4 times, realising the influx of tourists in large numbers.
“Look at the weather and hills at this place. Who would not want to be here in such conditions? Thankfully, I had booked the rooms much earlier to save the last-minute rush,” said Akash Upadhyay, a tourist from Nagpur. A tourist from Bhopal, Kirti Yadav, said, “I told my husband that celebrating Independence Day has been promised to my family members. We have been waiting for this ever since the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was announced. I wanted to unfurl the flag here only. A lot of my other friends also wanted to do the same but they could not get the rooms.”
