INDORE: A deaf and mute child was lured away from her home and raped by a 48-year-old man in Khandwa district, police said on Tuesday. The accused is in custody.
The 14-year-old girl was playing outside her house when the suspect approached her and asked her to come with him, say police. When her mother objected, he told her that her husband had gone to participate in a bullock cart race and couldn’t be found. Let’s go look for your father, the 48-year-old told the child and took her away despite the protests of her mother.
He took the teenager to his home and raped her there, the mother has said in her complaint. He threatened to kill the child if she told anyone about the rape. But the girl immediately confided in her mother. When her father came back, the parents approached police and filed a complaint of rape.
