Madhya Pradesh government announces Rs 1 crore reward to hockey player Vivek Sagar Prasad after India's bronze medal win at Paris Olympics

The Government of Madhya Pradesh oo declared a reward of Rs 1 crore for Vivek Sagar Prasad, who is a member of the Indian men's hockey team that secured a bronze medal in the Paris Olympics on Friday.

India achieved a significant milestone by defeating Spain 2-1, earning their second consecutive bronze medal in the Olympics. The last time India won medals in hockey at two consecutive Olympics was 1968 and 1972.

Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, extended his congratulations to Prasad, who is a native of the state.

In a telephonic conversation with the player, Yadav said, "It was a good performance. The entire nation is happy with all of you. Congratulations to you and the entire team for this success. The Madhya Pradesh government will transfer Rs 1 crore to your account as a reward."

"You are working as an honourable deputy superintendent of police (DSP), and now the state will reward you with Rs 1 crore," he said.

A native of Itarsi in Narmadapuram district, Prasad was also part of the Tokyo Olympics team that clinched the bronze medal.
