Madhya Pradesh panchayat poll: BJP promised 35% OBC quota, but gave less than 12% seats, says Kamal Nath

BHOPAL: Former chief minister and state Congress president Kamal Nath on Saturday said that the BJP has not done justice to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) category as far as panchayat poll quota is concerned. The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government to have promised 35% reservation to OBCs, but gave them less than 12% reservations, he said.

“The Shivraj government of Madhya Pradesh has done great injustice to Other Backward Classes in panchayat elections,” Nath tweeted on Saturday. “In the 2022 panchayat elections, the BJP government has given only 11.2% seats to OBC category for elections of district panchayat members, just 9.5% of the seats for president of janpadh panchayats and only 11.5% seats for janpadh panchayat members,” the senior Congress leader tweeted.
