Madhya Pradesh: Beheaded tiger carcass found in Balaghat canal

BHOPAL: The headless, mutilated carcass of a tiger was found floating in a canal of Rajiv Sagar Dam in Balaghat district on Saturday. India has lost over 40 tigers this year, around 18 of them in Madhya Pradesh.

The carcass was found in Sitapathor area, some 25km from the district headquarters. It looks like a case of poaching since its head, claws and canines were missing, said an officer. Its stripes could not be matched with any of the tigers on the Pench and Kanha databases, sources said.
