Fashion fans are familiar with platforms like Depop and Vinted, which allow you to buy and sell second-hand clothes, often for knock-down prices.
These sites have become enormously popular in recent years, not just as a way of nabbing a bargain. As more and more of us have become more environmentally conscious, we’ve realised that buying second-hand can be a way of living sustainably, especially when the alternative is often the wasteful, if not outright disposable, ‘fast fashion’ on the high street.
Dublin entrepreneur and self-confessed former shopaholic Laura White has gone one further with her new website ByBorrow. Not only can you buy and sell directly with other users, you can rent items of clothing too, paying a small fee and sending them back after you’ve worn them for someone else to enjoy.
