Made In Chelsea ’s Maeva D’Ascanio was blasted by an online troll for isolating from her newborn baby when she caught Covid.
The reality star previously admitted last week that she had tested positive for Coronavirus and asked her mother-in-law to look after her five-week old baby son until she got better.
Maeva previously told her 331K followers that she ‘couldn’t wait’ to be reunited with little Beau - whom she shares with her fiancé James Russell Taylor - but it wasn’t long before the 30-year-old was viciously attacked with comments by onlookers about her personal decision to stay apart from her little one whilst she was unwell.
“Your baby should never have been away from you so newborn, and disgusting he's not back! You're clearly well,” one follower criticised, which caused the French influencer to hit back by dubbing them an ‘idiot’.
“What the hell you know about my life if I'm well or not you idiot! You're right it would have been better to keep my baby close to me sick with Covid and coughing in his face,” she clapped back.
“If you don't know how to take care of your child, well I do!”
Meanwhile, other followers were quick to defend the star, with one saying: “You’ve done the right thing. He’s so tiny.”
“I for one would have done the exact same thing ..No way would i have been happy having Covid with a newborn,” another reassured.
Someone else added: “I got Covid and passed it on to my baby and both ended up in hospital. You did the right thing.”
According to NHS England, parents with Coronavirus should avoid coughing or sneezing on their baby and should follow strict sterilisation guidelines and allow them their own separate sleep space.
However the guidelines also state that its okay for parents continue with skin-to-skin contact with their babies and continue breastfeeding as the benefits and the protection it offers to outweighs any potential risks of transmitting the virus.
Last week, Maeva informed her followers: “So, for the update, I have Covid. I am at home on my own.
“My little baby Beau is not here. I had to leave him to my mother-in-law because it's way more safe there for him.
“It's really hard to say. Some people say that babies can catch Covid, some say babies cannot catch Covid but, just in case, I prefer him to be there and be safe,” she said.
