Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks has been keeping fans updated as she shared many sun-filled snaps from her recent trip to Scotland.
The Hollywood actress has been enjoying some time in Edinburgh, visiting friends and sightseeing around the capital with her dog Triscuit ahead of her new TV show. The 47-year-old was nominated for an Emmy on the back of her role in American TV hit Mad Men and as well as boasting the vote of 'the sexiest woman in the world' as she prepares to film in Scotland.
Christina is set to star in a new adaptation of Edith Wharton's The Buccaneers for streaming giant Apple TV+, where she trades 1960s New York for the wonders of Edinburgh. The Good Girls star joins buccaneers Kristine Froseth, Alisha Boe, Josie Totah, Aubri Ibrag, Imogen Waterhouse and Mia Threapleton in the Apple TV+ drama series.
The series focuses on girls with money, men with power, new money and old secrets. A group of fun-loving young American girls explode into the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition. Sent to secure husbands and titles, the buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than that, and saying “I do” is just the beginning.
As she has moved across the pond for her recent project, the actress has visited Portobello beach, taken a whisky tour at Johnnie Walker Princes Street, and dropped by Prestonfield House hotel. After visiting the posh hotel, she shared to Instagram: " I’ve just died and gone to @prestonfieldhouseedinburgh I didn’t want to even blink for fear of missing any beauty @scotch_soda "
Despite her jam-packed schedule, she also found the time to join in all the fun at Edinburgh's Fringe Festival, the world's largest arts festival across the globe. Hendricks shared a stunning snap, sporting new jewellery as she gushed over the Fringe Festival on Instagram.
She wrote: "Got all dolled up in my new @shrimps earrings-yes, they’re shrimp (thanks @frontierswoman.edinburgh for having such fabulous things!) to go see @pjharveyofficial read from her book #orlam. It was intoxicating and heady to see her read and sing from this rich and gorgeous poem. Such an extraordinary artist I’ve admired for so long. #edinburghfestival "
One snap was of a visit to the Marshall Meadows Manor House in Northumberland, near the Border. The Hollywood star made her love for Scotland clear in the caption which read: "Path to the left, Scotland. To the right, England. I chose Scotland."
Posting on their official Instagram page, the JWPS team wrote: "We’re no strangers to hosting whisky lovers at #JWPrincesStreet. So, it was a pleasure to meet the ridiculously talented actor and whisky fan Christina Hendricks, who recently joined us on the Journey of Flavour tour before stopping by the 1820 Bar to enjoy our unbeatable views of Edinburgh."
