Macron, Carney to visit North Atlantic French islands after Trump's map post

French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will reaffirm the “sovereignty of nations” on a visit on September 20 to Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, a French territory in the North Atlantic, the Élysée Palace announced on Sunday. The symbolic trip comes after US President Donald Trump posted a map on social media showing the entire North American continent covered by the US flag.

The leaders of France and Canada will next week visit France's North Atlantic territory of Saint-Pierre-and-Miquelon to underscore their support for national borders in the face of US President Donald Trump's territorial ambitions, Paris said Sunday.
