Police are appealing for witnesses after a man armed with a machete threatened staff at a Co-op in County Durham before stealing cash and vapes.
The incident happened at around 8.10pm on Monday, October 24, at the Co-op on Dale Road in Shildon. It was reported that an unknown man entered the shop with what is believed to be a machete.
He then threatened members of staff in order for them to get cash out of the till and went on to steal cash and vapes from behind the counter. The suspect is male and is described as around 5ft7 wearing dark clothing with his face covered.

Police believe he made off from the store in the direction of Dale Road after reviewing CCTV footage. Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with the force.
A spokesperson for Shildon Police said: "On Monday 24th October at approx. 20:10pm an unknown male enters the CO-OP, Dale Road Shildon with a machete. The male then proceeds to threaten members of staff in order for them to get cash out of the till.
"The offender is described to be a male approx. 5ft7 wearing dark clothing with his face covered. He has entered the store with what is believed to be a machete and has stolen cash and vapes from behind the counter. From reviewing CCTV the suspect made off from the store in the direction of Dale Road.
"Officers are appealing for information from anybody who may have witnessed this incident to contact the OIC John Young (john.young@durham.police.uk) on 101 ref incident number DHM-24102022-0393."
