A Scots thug found guilty of a brutal machete murder bid has shared pictures on Instagram and Snapchat just days after being locked up.
Leonard Cole was convicted at Paisley Sheriff Court last week by a jury who found him guilty of the attempted murder of a man in broad daylight during an attack in Union Street, Greenock in June 9, 2018.
The 23-year-old was remanded in custody while his sentence was deferred - but he has since been updating Snapchat and Instagram with photographs of himself and other cons from behind bars.
In pictures posted to social media, Cole can be seen smiling alongside fellow inmates.
In one snap, in which he is wearing a blue t-shirt, Cole gives the camera a thumbs up as he poses for his social media followers.
The Scottish Prison Service have now launched a probe into the incident.
It comes after the Record reported organised crime gang members were offering prison officers up to £3,000 to smuggle iPhones into jail.
The sum is the equivalent of almost two months' wages and 30 times the price of some second-hand devices.
An officer's basic pay within the Scottish Prison Service is around £22,000 per year.
Gangsters hope that the cost of living crisis will make prison staff more vulnerable to taking risks.
An officer in high-security Shotts Prison told friends he turned the offer to take in a handset.
That came after dozens of iPhones were discovered during a massive security sweep.
The Scottish Prison Service say they will take 'all appropriate action' to investigate the incident.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service said: "The possession of a mobile phone in prison is a criminal offence.
"If we receive information to suggest that prisoners are in possession of such devices we will take all appropriate action and report it to the relevant authorities."
