Mac players rejoice: Hytale will launch on macOS day one

Mac players have something to cheer about as Hytale will now launch in early access with native macOS support on day one, landing alongside the Windows and Linux versions in early access on Jan. 13, 2026.

If you’re an Apple user who has watched the game’s long and rocky road to release from the sidelines, this means you won’t need to wait for a delayed port or rely on workarounds just to join in.

The Hytale team has confirmed that Hytale will ship with macOS support at the start of early access, covering modern Apple Silicon Macs. This puts macOS players on equal footing with PC and Linux users, as all can jump into Orbis together.

This move lines up neatly with the game’s broader comeback story after Hytale was reacquired by Hypixel from Riot Games. After years of uncertainty regarding platforms and timing, same-day support across all the major operating systems is a strong signal that cross-platform play is a genuine priority.

Hytale Mac system requirements

DevSlashNull, one of the Hytale devs, has shared the minimum and recommended system requirements, and here’s what you can expect at launch based on those details:

Minimum requirements

These requirements are needed to play the game at 1080p, 30 frames per second, and 192 view distance:

  • Any Apple M1 variant with macOS Tahoe
  • 8 GB of RAM
  • At least 10 GB of free space on an SSD

Recommended requirements

These are the recommended requirements from the dev to enjoy Hytale at 1080p, 60 frames per second, and 384 view distance:

  • Any Apple M2 variant with macOS Tahoe
  • 16 GB of RAM
  • At least 20 GB of free space on an SSD

Hytale’s Mac version is built specifically for M‑series chips, so if you’re still using an Intel-based Mac, you’re out of luck, as those devices are not part of the launch plan. If your machine meets those specs, you should be able to dive into Hytale’s blocky worlds on day one without needing Boot Camp, cloud streaming, or any other workaround.

And if you’re planning to play it via Steam, make sure to check the minimum and recommended PC requirements.
