Commuters faced traffic chaos on Monday morning after a police incident locked down the M8 for hours.
Police Scotland has confirmed to Edinburgh Live that the closures came as a result of the death of a 56-year-old man.
At around 4.20am on Monday, police officers were called to the M8 Westbound.

At around 6am Traffic Scotland confirmed that the M8 Westbound was closed and that the entry slip road Junction 27 was also closed, causing chaos for early commuters.
Emergency services were spotted at the scene and police can now confirm they were responding to the death of a 56-year-old man.
Traffic was diverted through Paisley but images on social media show long traffic jams, with Traffic Scotland warning road users to approach with queues seen trailing back beyond Hillington.
It is also understood that many drivers were left furious with the jams, with reports of people shouting through their windows and blasting their horns.
It is now understood that the incident has been dealt with.
Police Scotland have confirmed the death of the man but are not treating the incident as suspicious and a post mortem examination is due to take place.
A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “The M8 at J27 westbound was closed this morning as officers dealt with the sudden death of a 56-year-old man. Police received the call around 4.20am on Monday, 16 May, 2022. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
