A Glasgow section of the M8 has been closed to motorists after a road traffic accident.
The motorway is currently shut westbound at Junction 12 (Cumbernauld Road), with the eastbound carriageway reduced to two lanes between Junctions 14 (Blochairn) and Junction 13 (Provan).
Glasgow City Council's traffic management department TRAFFCOM have published a bulletin confirming news of the closure, advising motorists using the motorway to expect delays as a result.

Traffic information site INRIX report that congestion is queued back to Junction 11 (Stepps Road) for westbound traffic and Junction 22 (M77 interchange) for eastbound traffic, with delays of around 30 minutes.
Initial reports suggest a lorry struck the central reservation and travelled onto the opposite (eastbound) side of the motorway.
The M80 remains open, with traffic tailing back onto it.
UPDATE: All restrictions removed, M8 now open.
