A section of the M62 is set to remain closed into the evening after a fatal crash.
A lorry driver has died after being involved in a crash between two HGVs during the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, January 31. One of the HGVs was on fire when emergency services arrived and officers confirmed that a driver died at the scene.
The second driver was believed to have been uninjured. A section of the M62 eastbound, at Croft interchange, junction 10 has remained closed since the crash while officers carry out investigations and vehicle clear up takes place.

Motorway police and National Highways officials have confirmed that the closure is likely to remain in place until after 5pm on Tuesday. A spokesperson for Cheshire police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision between two HGVs on the M62 at the Croft interchange. At 4.37am this morning (Tuesday 31 January) police were called to the collision at junction 10.
"One of the vehicles was on fire, and one of the drivers sadly died at the scene. The second driver is believed to be uninjured and helping police with enquiries.
"The carriageway is closed and it is advised to avoid the area as the closure is impacting on nearby roads. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting IML 1468300."
Another stretch of the motorway, from J7 A57 Warrington Road to J8 A5281 Burtonwood Road is also closed after a separate vehicle fire that happened last night. There is queueing traffic due to emergency resurfacing repairs after the fire.
