A driver who only had a provisional licence has had their car seized after police said they were driving at 145mph on the motorway.
North West Motorway Police said they caught the learner driver travelling over the speed limit in the early hours of Thursday, January 20.
The officers, who cover Merseyside, Cheshire and some Greater Manchester areas, stopped the driver on the M6 southbound.

After stopping the speeding vehicle, which was travelling at more than twice the legal limit for the road, officers then found the driver of the performance vehicle only held a provisional licence.
Provisional licence holders are allowed to drive on all UK roads but not motorways.
Learner drivers must also be accompanied by a qualified driver, who is aged at least 21 and has a full driving licence for at least three years.
As a result of being stopped, the vehicle was seized and the driver reported.
Officers tweeted: "MS16 paced this Mercedes S350 at 145mph on the M6 southbound. Driver was found to be a provisional licence holder only.
"Vehicle seized and the driver reported for summons."
