National Highways has issued a warning to travellers as the M56 will be partly closed for the whole weekend.
Engineering works will be taking place between junctions six and eight as work continues to build an all-lane running motorway. The M56 will be closed from 9pm on Friday March 25 until 5.30am on Monday March 28.
National Highways said engineers would be installing superspan gantries on both sides of the carriageway - so to ensure the work is completed safely it has planned a full weekend closure of the M56. Both carriageways will be closed.

Junctions nine to five will be closed for eastbound traffic heading towards Manchester while junction five to eight will be closed for westbound traffic.
National Highways said: "We're taking the opportunity to do as much other work as possible, avoiding multiple separate overnight carriageway closures by doing so. Additionally we've looked to further minimise disruption for motorists by carrying out work on these dates. There are no major sporting fixtures and it's also ahead of the Easter holidays."
National Highways said diversions on the motorway will be clearly signed and has asked drivers to following the diversion routes instead of satnav instructions. Drivers are warned to expect delays and plan ahead to allow extra time to complete journeys.
The motorway maintainers added: "We appreciate the closure will have an impact on road users travelling over the weekend and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
