A serious crash involving a car which crossed the central reservation of the M5 has shut down both sides of the motorway.
All traffic has been stopped on the motorway while the emergency services deal with the smash, DevonLive reports.
The accident took place near the junction for Cullompton, Devon, earlier this evening.
Traffic data firm Inrix said: "M5 in both directions blocked, stationary traffic due to serious accident, involving a car which has crossed the central reservation involved from J28 A373 Honiton Road ( Cullompton / Service Area) to J29 A3015 Honiton Road (Exeter / Honiton ).
"A car travelling Southbound has collided with the central reservation and has come to rest on the Northbound carriageway.
"Emergency services and traffic officers are currently at the scene dealing with the incident."
National Highways South-West tweeted: "The #M5 in #Devon is CLOSED northbound within J28 ( #Cullompton ) due to a serious collision involving a car which has crossed through the central reservation barrier. Emergency services are in attendance. More information to follow..
