M5 car fire near Stroud causing smoke which can be seen for miles

Drivers in Bristol may be able to see the aftermath of car fire after it burst into flames on the M5 in Gloucestershire today (May 29). A passerby captured a clip of a car well alight on the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway near Stroud.

The incident is not causing many delays but the M5 is expected to be busy this weekend due to the fine weather and half term for many school next week, reports Somerset Live. Yesterday queues stretched for more than 40 miles as people tried to getaway for the school holidays.

The passerby, who was a passenger in a passing car and snapped the piture, said: "Car on fire northbound M5 expect delays. Looks like passengers are all safe."
