A statement has been issued by police after an incident on the M32 this morning (Thursday, November 24) which led the motorway to close in both directions. Avon and Somerset Police has confirmed there was concern for the welfare of a man on the road, with the motorway being closed both ways at J3 A4320 Easton Way in St Pauls.
Police were called to Lower Ashley Road, Bristol at around 5am today following a report of concern for the welfare of a man. Officers praised a member of the public for showing the individual "great compassion" as they stayed with him until emergency services arrived.
The force also said that the man has been taken to hospital. It was reported there were diversions in place, via the entry and exit slip roads, and queuing traffic in the area. The M25 fully reopened at around 7.30am.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Police and ambulance crews were called just after 5am on Thursday 24 November to a report of concern for the welfare of a man on Lower Ashley Road, Bristol, which led to the closure of the M32.
"A member of the public showed great compassion by staying with the man until emergency services arrived. A man is going to hospital."
They added: "The road was fully reopened by about 7.30am. We're grateful to motorists for their patience while the road was closed."
