A major stretch of the M11 was brought to a halt on Saturday after a horror multi-car collision forced the closure of two lanes and left drivers stuck in long tailbacks.
Traffic ground to a stop between junction 9 (Newmarket) and junction 8 (Stansted Airport), with congestion stretching for miles as emergency crews rushed to the scene. Motorists were warned of severe delays as vehicles queued in both directions.
