Customers have been told not to put a variety of Marks and Spencer hot cross buns in their toasters.
M&S has given a safety warning saying the extremely chocolatey hot cross buns are "not suitable for toasting in a domestic toaster."
Instead, customers are told to warm them under the grill, check them regularly and only use a medium heat.
The warning is featured on the description for the M&S Extremely Chocolatey hot cross buns, available for £1.65 for four.
In response, Phoebe Bailey wrote on twitter: "I feel cheated, my M&S Extremely Chocolatey hot cross buns hot cross buns are "not suitable for toasting in a domestic toaster". How am I supposed to toast them?"
This prompted the official M&S account to reply: "Under the grill is the best way! Just make sure not to have the heat too high and be sure to keep checking them, to avoid them burning! You got this!"
Phoebe then replied: "2 minutes under the grill worked wonders!"
The full product description for this brand of hot cross buns says: "Four extremely chocolate hot cross buns enriched with dark, milk and white chocolate pieces and cocoa powder. Best served toasted with a layer of butter. Serves 4."
And under the heading of Safety Warning, it says: "This product is not suitable for toasting in a domestic toaster."
Packaging on M&S’ Salted Caramel & Blond Chocolate Hot Cross Buns and Extremely Chocolatey Hot Cross Buns advises toasting the treats, reports the Daily Mail.
