A new dress sold by Marks and Spencer has been met with harsh criticism from shoppers who have branded it as "awful".
The British high-street retailer has recently launched a brand new star-print Nobody's Child dress and it has not gone down well with fans who don't think the dress is quite the style it should be.
Shoppers were quick to voice their opinions after the retailer shared a snap of a model wearing the new dress on their social media account.
The ankle length black star-print dress is part of the retailer's sustainable Nobody's Child line and is currently priced at £45.
The drama unfolded after M&S took to their official Instagam account to share a snap of a customer who had styled the dress with a lace collar.
Captioned: "The star of the show. We’re falling head over heels for this star-print Nobody’s Child dress", the social media snap quickly gained a flurry of comments from shoppers who thought the dress was less than a star.
One shopper joked: "Is it called Nobody’s Child because nobody would wear it."
Another shopper commented: "Wouldn’t put my granny in this!!"
"Are you having a laugh", wrote a third sceptical shopper.
While a fourth wrote: "Who on earth approved that print. Really poor M&S."
Quite a few other shoppers were so unimpressed that they thought the retailer's new dress was "a joke."
"Is this an early April fool?", commented one shopper.
With a second commenting: "Note to self: check calendar that it isn't April 1st ...."
Many other shoppers were quick to point out that the dress didn't seem like it would fit in with today's modern fashion, with some describing it as having a "puritan collar."
Another joked: "She looks easy for a re-enactment day."
However, despite the harsh comments, some shoppers were actually quite taken with the dress and din't think it was as bad as some shopper said.
"How cute, lovely dress and beautiful bag", wrote one positive shopper.
Other impressed shoppers took to the model's own Instagram snap off the dress to praise it as "perfection."
While another happy shopper commented: "Love love love."
M&S and Nobody's Child Star-Print dress is currently available online and in-stores for £45.
