Marks & Spencer’s has attracted fierce criticism over its official Jubilee Sandwich that contains a full boiled egg. The sandwich, which also contains ham, is set to be on sale for around eight weeks in stores for a costly £4.25.
It has been met with mixed reviews - with one person branding it a 'hate crime' and others questioning its relevance to the Jubilee, reports MyLondon. One person wrote on Twitter: "The M&S ham and whole egg sandwich is a hate crime between two slices of bread, and for £4.25, a hate crime on your bank balance. a farce."
Another person wrote: "horrifying M&S sandwich that’s been haunting my dreams" alongside a picture of them holding the infamous sandwich.

The sandwich contains smoked British dry-cured ham with egg mayonnaise and a whole soft poached egg. Apparently, when cut in half, the sandwich is meant to resemble a crown with the egg yolk representing a large jewel in the middle - even if it does leave people confused as to how you would actually eat it.
Not everyone though was negative about the foodie offering. Many commentators on Instagram showed their appreciation. One simply wrote: “Tuck in.” Another added: “The eggy dream.”
In other M&S news, the supermarket have recently revealed that their Percy Pigs empire is expanding with new Percy Pig potato smiles. Similar to a potato smiley face, these potato snacks are in the friendly shape of a Percy Pig.
A bag of Percy Pig Potato Shapes will cost you just £2, making them the perfect child-friendly alternative to baby potatoes or chips. What's more, they're also vegan and gluten-free.
