As ever M&S hasn’t disappointed with its cheeky and inventive food range for Easter – and it’s sent the internet spinning.
This year, the supermarket’s confectionary aisle is brimming with new Easter eggs, from loaded half shells to cornflake creations, inventive spins on hot cross buns (including a red velvelt flavour filled with white chocolate), and a limited-edition cookie with its Easter speckled eggs.
Among the range, the dippy egg cookie cup caught my eye for its sweet spin on the classic English breakfast.
The “egg cup” is a milk chocolate chip cookie filled with white chocolate cheesecake as the egg white and topped with the “yolk”, which is a mango and passion fruit compote. Incomplete without a soldier, it’s served with an all-butter shortbread biscuit to dunk.
I got my hands on the fun Easter dessert, so read on for my verdict.

M&S dippy egg cookie cup: £3.20, Ocado.com

The cup has a cookie-dough like taste, but has been elevated with rich chocolate chunks and a high quality tasting dough in a toasted brown colour. I really enjoyed how vivid the mango and passionfruit compote tasted, while the white chocolate cheesecake, though not all that chocolatey, was silky and delicious. As the cheesecake is smooth and creamy, you can actually dunk the shortbread, which adds novelty. If you’re a fan of citrus cheesecakes, this is a tasty and fun spin on the dessert.
For £3.20, the cookie cup quite small (albeit it rich). Overall, it's definitely an eye-catching concept and one that is sure to bring joy over the season.
