Marks and Spencer is making a huge change to its Sparks scheme in a bid to reduce shopping bills for loyal members. Following in the footsteps of Tesco and Sainsbury's, the supermarket will be trialling lower prices for Sparks members on select goods.
The pilot scheme is being tested in 49 food halls over the next two weeks across South Wales, the West Midlands and the North East of England. To receive these lower prices, members need to scan their Sparks card at the checkout.
At the moment, shoppers can get cheaper prices on select lines such as the Barbecue Heroes and Chicken Delux Family dine in deals. The Barbecue Heroes meal deal is reduced to £10 instead of £12 for those with a Sparks card, the Mirror reports..

A spokesperson for M&S said: "In 2020 we relaunched Sparks as a digital-first loyalty scheme and in three years have almost doubled the number of Sparks members to more than 16 million - rewarding them with personalised offers, special treats, and thank you. We're always innovating and trialling different ways to reward members including Sparks Day Out, 12 Days of Sparks and our recent trial, Sparks Delivery Pass.
"The trials that are currently underway give every Sparks customer who shops with us at stores in these regions access to a lower price on some customer favourites."
It follows a similar announcement from Sainsbury's which started introducing cheaper prices for loyal customers through its new Nectar Prices initiative in April this year. Co-Op has also started offering lower prices to membership holders.
Tesco began the trend as early as 2019 when it began offering cheaper goods to its Clubcard holders.
