M&S has been accused of copying one of the UK's most iconic ice cream brands over a new summer treat it has launched in time for the heatwave. The high-street giant caused the stir among shoppers with their adorable new ice cream lollies based on their iconic mascot - Percy Pig.
One shopper shared online that M&S has come to the rescue of those needing to cool down in this weather with the new Percy Pig Mini Curly Tails ice cream lollies. Priced at just £2 for one box of 5 treats, these lollies come with flavoured ice cream and a strawberry fruit ice swirl.
If you think they look quite familiar to an ice lolly from your childhood, then you wouldn't be alone, as many shoppers think they look strangely familiar to Wall's classic Twister ice lolly.
With its light and dark pink swirl, M&S shoppers have accused the retailer of "blatantly copying" the iconic Walls ice cream which has become famed for its signature swirl.
One shopper shared M&S' post announcing the new summer lollies to the Food Finds UK Page on Facebook. The post read: "COOL DOWN WITH PERCY.
Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot? Percy Pig to the rescue with his new Mini Curly Tails!
Made with Percy Pig™ flavoured ice cream and a strawberry fruit ice swirl, they’re perfect for this week’s warm weather. Only £2 a box and available in store!"
Hundreds of shoppers quickly flocked to the comments section to mention that the brand new Percy Pig ice lollies were literally just their own version of Twister.
"So if they went after Aldi for Colin the caterpillar, will walls go after them for a blatant twister?! Lol", joked one shopper.
"These are twisters in pink ! Copying twister if you ask me lol", commented a second.
"Pink twisters then lol", replied a third.
Despite all the Twister jokes, M&S still managed to get quite a few shoppers excited to grab a box of the Curly Tail ice creams the next time they were in store.
"I need these in my life!!! Xxx", raved one shopper.
"Ooooo they look good!!", replied a second.
"I definitely have to find this", commented another.
M&S' Percy Pig Mini Curls Tails are available in stores now.
